Medix is Cloud based Android solution which provides optimum performance security and device management and maintenance. The BYOD solutions deliver a web based frontend, compatible with any platform with Browser/web support.
The UI of Medix is intuitive clean and created close to the design of a smartphone UI. This enables patients to quickly familiarize themselves with the logic. A typical frontend is shown below with 3 category options on the left and right. Further options and layouts are also available and can be user defined.
The Medix platform support the generall communincation based on the standard HL7 definition.
The HL7 communincation require a local appliance. This appliance must be connected to the hospitals network for the HL7 communication as well to the Terminal/device network where all Terminals are connected to. The applicance also require access to the Medix cloud server for remote access as well for information in combination with the BYOD platform.
Security: The Medix firmware is a secured and managed Android solution. The settings are locked, unauthorized App installation is blocked and the software is fully secured within the user operating environment. Additionally external access is blocked and no patient data is stored within the cloud. This data is all managed locally as encrypted data communication to the Medix cloud server. Automatic firmware and software updates are configured via the Medix cloud server.
App catalogue: The App catalogue for Medix can be extended to fulfil any future requirement. The App catalogue offers Basic apps, Public free apps, 3rd party apps (such as Patient Engagement) and can be extended with Customer apps provided by hospitals or partners.
Cloud solution: As Medix is cloud based, the maintenance and costs involved are significantly reduced. All devices are maintained with the latest firmware version and improvements and new features are immediately available for all partners and end users.
Multilingual support: Medix offers 40 languages and as standard has 6 in the initial user interface configuration.
Screen Mirroring: With Medix it is possible to mirror cast the screen of the patients device (mobile or tablet device ) to additional Medix enabled devices in the patient location. Medix supports the Miracast standard.
Accesspoint/Wifi Bubble: The Medix devices also allow end users to create a wireless Access point, which enable the connected Medix Healthcare device to be utilised as a Hospital wide Wifi network providing access points in 2.4GHz and 5GHz ranges. These Wi-Fi networks points can be used for guest applications linking to the Wi-Fi network. The Accesspoints can be managed via the Medix Technical Portal and can perform network scans and other tasks.
SIP telephony: Medix also allows the patient to use SIP telephony via the Medix App. With this feature patients can easily connect with family and friends, using the handset or the touch screen of their device. This feature is simple use with a intuitive user interface. The Medix SIP App also provides a telephone directory and a last call number facility.
Screensharing: With Medix Healthcare devices it’s possible to mirror the screen of the patients device to other Medix enabled devices within their vicinity. Medix supports the Miracast standard .
Available on multiple devices: The Android based Medix platform is available on multiple devices. From bedside terminals, set top boxes connected with a TV, Android tablets up to a HTML version to be used on the patients own device (BYOD).
The Medix User interface (UI) is designed to be intuitive modern and clean in design to replicate a similar user experience to a smartphone . This familiarisation enables users to quickly relate to the software interface and applications. .
The picture below show a typical frontend with 3 categories positioned on the left and 3 at the right. Further options and configurations are available depending on the look and feel that the system administrator prefers.
The main areas are:
Categories/Apps: The big 3 icons left and right of the screen or 6 at the bottom. Here Apps can be placed or a category where multiple Apps can be placed inside a category. Advertising: The big free area in the middle of the screen. Here Ads with text, pictures or text/pictures mixed can be placed. Welcome Message: The welcome message in the upper middle screen area. In case of HL7 connection it can appear with the patient name. Weather: The top left area of the screen which can show the weather of today or additionally with forcast. Hospital Logo: The top right area has space for a hospital logo. RSS-Feed/Ticker-Messages: The top bar at the screen can be used for RSS-Feeds or Hospitals own Ticker Messages.
The 15.6 inch and 18,5 inch Medi-View Bedside terminal and handset is located at the patient Bedside . The solution design includes Antibacterial materials, fan-less operation and IP65 front face for complete cleaning within the demanding Healthcare environment. When configured with Remedi mounting arms patients can position the solution in front of themselves easily to utilise all of the unique functionality and features. Unique peripherals allow video cameras, RFID and smartcard readers to be utilised for specific security or multimedia applications.
For a hospital TV environment Medix can be configured onto a Set Top Box (STB). The Medix Android platform can be configured for any TV with a HDMI cable connection, serial control and IR pass through. The STB solution comes with a cleanable remote control with a fully backlit keypad which has been optimised for clinical use.
Utilising a the latest Wi-Fi module the solution is capable to connect through 2.5GHz and 5GHz networks or even can be used to create a individual Access Point. This infrastructure can be configured used to build a complete wifi network within the hospital environment.
With minimal dimensions of: 25mm x 100mm x 105mm, the STB and bracket can easily mount behind all configured TV solutions.
Medix can also be configured for a tablet solution with the patient bedside environment. The unique tablet solution is converted into a fully managed device and the Patient has no access to settings to make any modifications or changes.
The Medix bring your own device (BYOD) solution delivers web compatible content to any device with Web/Browser support. Full compatibility can be provided for smartphones, tablet or Laptop and the User interface (UI) has been specifically designed to mimic recognised Android solutions without the native Android apps.
The content created inside the Medix Portal is automatically available for BYOD, so it is not necessary to add additional content. The solution is automatically mobile responsive and adapts to the screen resolution layout and dimension of the device.
